Connecting Extender with the Wifi Network

  • In this step, the Netgear AC1200 Wifi Range Extender Setup will be done with the help of the WPS. Having the setup with WPS is quite easy as you don’t need to type the name and password for your network. You just need to have the connection with the WiFi-Protected setup (WPS).
  • Now, bring the WPS button of the extender to the ON state. Now, the LED will blink after some time.
  • Within one to minutes of pressing the WPS button on your extender, press the WPS button of your router as well. This will establish the connection between the extender and router, and the LED lights will turn into solid color or green color for both.
  • In case, the router also supports the bandwidth of 5GHz, then follow the above steps again in order to connect the extender to the 5GHz bandwidth.
  • Now, unplug your extender, and bring it to the area which is halfway from the poor area signal and strong area signal. Now, it is not necessary to have the extender in the same room as that of the WiFi.

Completion of Setup with WPS

  • Supply the power to the Extender and wait till the LED turns green.
  • The router LED will also help you out in the selection of the optimal area for the extender. If the Router LED does not turn amber or green, then it means, the specific location is not the optimal one. Try some other place till the router LED turns into a solid color.
  • With the desired device, connect to the new extender WiFi network. There will be 2 new extender networks based on different bandwidths having 2GEXT and 5GEXT in the last of the existing Wifi network name. For example, if your WiFi network name is Super, then it would be Super_2GEXT and 5GEXT.

The password will be the same as that of your existing WiFi network.

  • With these steps, the Netgear AC1200 Wifi Range Extender setup is complete. For confirmation, test the device connectivity in the area having poor signal strength whether it works or not, otherwise, bring the device a bit closer to the Extender so that Extender LED should turn from red to green.
